A Festa da Menina Morta conta a história de Santinho, jovem alçado à condição de líder espiritual numa comunidade ribeirinha do Alto Amazonas ao realizar um “milagre” após o suicídio de sua própria mãe. O filme procura ser o retrato íntimo dos envolvidos nesta seita e fala da capacidade infinita do homem em “criar” fé e buscar um sentido diante de seu horror à morte.

The Dead Girl’s Feast tells the story of Santinho, a young man who has been exalted to the position of a saint in a remote riverine community on the upper Amazon, after performing a “miracle” following the suicide of his own mother. The film seeks to be an intimate picture of the ones who are involved in this sect and of the infinite human capacity of “fabricating” faith and seeking for some sense in the horrifying experience of death.

One of the most active and award winning Brazilian actors of today, he has participated in several of the most important films made in Brazil in recent years, such as Central do Brasil, by Walter Salles, Cidade de Deus, by Fernando Meirelles, and Amarelo Manga, by Claudio Assis. This is his directing debut, which had its international premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2008.
